Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” has twirled its way to a second week at No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart (March 14).
The song first hit the top spot last week, almost five years after its initial release in 2020 and more than 18 months on from the release of her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. “Pink Pony Club” gave Roan her first-ever No. 1 single in the U.K., besting her previous high of No. 2 with “Good Luck, Babe!” in 2024.
But “Pink Pony Club” could face stiff competition over the next week from Roan herself following the release of her new country-tinged single, “The Giver,” on Friday.
Writing on her Instagram, Roan discussed entering the country genre for the first time: “Country music is fire,” she wrote. “It’s the campiest of camp. some of you may be new to the country scene and not quite sure what to make of me having a fiddle and banjo in my song. Understandable boo … it is something different and sometimes different can feel bad because it’s unfamiliar, but I encourage you to give her another shot ;)”
U.S. singer-songwriter Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” hits a new high at No. 2 and will no doubt be a close competitor to Roan over the next week. As Mayhem claims the top spot on the Official Albums Chart, Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra” rises to a new high of No. 3, while “Garden of Eden” debuts at No. 23, giving Mother Monster her 32nd top 40 hit in the U.K.
Doechii scores the week’s highest new entry with “Anxiety” closing the week at No. 4, her first-ever top five on the U.K. Singles Chart. The song, which samples Gotye’s Hot 100-topper “Somebody That I Used to Know,” was first released in 2019 and reissued last week following a viral TikTok moment (March 5).
On March 10, it was announced that Doechii would collect Billboard’s esteemed Woman of the Year prize at the upcoming Women In Music ceremony in Los Angeles on March 29.
