Miley Cyrus promised to deliver Something Beautiful with her new visual album. Now, fans get to judge for themselves with the first taste of what’s to come.
On Tuesday (March 25), Cyrus dropped the first trailer for her recently announced visual album. Throughout the clip, fans hear snippets of new music, with Cyrus’ updated rock-meets-pop sound taking over from the jump. “If I break away any bodies between us, would you promise that I’m enough if I give you all of my love?” Cyrus whispers at the end of the clip.
Referred to during the video as a “one of a kind pop opera,” the new visuals show Cyrus sauntering through backlots, film sets and stairways while sporting vintage Mugler, custom-made Alexander McQueen and Jean-Paul Gaultier couture. Described as “a unique visual experience fueled by fantasy,” the self-directed visual album is set to debut in theaters this June, just after Cyrus’ album Something Beautiful drops on May 30.
The trailer comes just one day after Cyrus officially announced the album’s release date and cover art via Instagram. In the art, the “Flowers” singer sports an elegant, archival 1997 Thierry Mugler headpiece while staring down the camera, a look that mirrors “the album’s bold aesthetic and visual storytelling,” the caption said. The singer also revealed that the album will feature 13 songs, each executive produced by Cyrus and Shawn Everett.
She first gave fans a hint of what was to come in a November 2024 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, during which she revealed that her next project would be a visual album inspired by Pink Floyd’s classic album The Wall, “but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture.” The singer also revealed that the album was her “attempt to medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music.”
